The Original Beauty Blender Review

The Original Beauty Blender will help you in achieving a quick and flawless foundation application. The Beauty Blender speeds up application time and cuts down on product use (because the Beauty Blender is used wet it does not absorb as much as a dry sponge would.)
The shape is great for the face, one side being larger and rounder (cheeks & forehead), the other being more pointed to get into the smaller places (nose, mouth & eyes).

How to use:
Soak the Beauty Blender and squeeze out excess, place it in a towel an squeeze once more. Place foundation/concealer on the Beauty Blender or directly to skin and stipple it over your face. Done.

Pros:
Makes application fast and flawless (liquid foundation and concealer)
You can use wet or dry make up with it
Provides good coverage which can be made sheer easily
Easy to get into the smaller places of your face
Helps to not leave visible foundation lines
Latex free, non-allergenic & odor free

Cons:
The price (I purchased mine for about $35 NZD)
Unhygienic as you would use it longer than a disposable
You could probably get a similar application with other products, but it would take longer
The cleanser that can be purchased with it is terrible.

Would I buy The Original Beauty Blender again?
Yes, I would. It's convenient, simple and anyone can use it and gain a great application

Wild Ferns New Zealand Rotorua Mud Review

I found this in a pharmacy within Wellington CBD and thought I would try it. I have never been to Rotorua, but I would love to go just to experience the spa treatments with their geothermal mud. This type of mud is rich in rejuvenating minerals and has natural cleaning, antiseptic, healing and balancing properties (Hell yeah, I want to try me some of that!)

I purchased the 2 mask pack for about $9.50 NZD which is a good price and you can also buy this in tube, which I think was closer to $23 NZD.

The product itself is dark grey and quite thick, almost like a liquid honey consistency with a slight sulfuric odor (Like a match stick, not rotten eggs). It's easily spreadable on the skin and starts to dry within the first minute. At about 10 minutes I could see the mask pulling the oil from my pores on my nose and cheeks. It is quite disgusting seeing this, but good to know the mask is working on deeply cleansing my skin and pulling out the impurities.

I followed the instructions and also used a wash cloth to remove the product. My skin was so soft and smooth after and I had no irritation. My skin seemed alive again, any redness I had was gone and the congested pores on my nose was improved. I applied my regular moisturizer afterward and my skin absorbed it very fast, leaving it feeling like velvet.

A great New Zealand product which helps rejuvenate your skin, but for future use I might get a mask applying brush to save on product wastage

I give this mask 5/5

Lush Yog Nog Soap Review

A beautiful, raw gingerbread dough coloured slab of moisturizing vegan soap made with soy yogurt and a cocoa & nutmeg dusting
This soap is creamy, fudgy and smells so, so amazing. It smells exactly like fresh ginger kisses (Is that only a New Zealand food?). The clove bud and ylang ylang essential oils will leave your skin so soft and not stripped of your natural oils like a lot of soaps tend to do.

But in saying such nice things I would not recommend it as a body soap - it just simply does not lather to a sufficient amount and it feels like it doesn't clean thoroughly enough. It does leave a lovely, light scent on your skin once used which is a plus. I believe there is so much room for growth for Yog Nog in a form of a hand cream, body butter or shower ge and I will forever cross my fingers for it to happen, but as a soap - meh.

I probably wouldn't use this in soap form again, but I would buy this again as a room fragrance because it is just that delicious and looks beautiful sitting on my candle stand.

Scent: 5/5
Cleansing: 3/5

Philips VisaPure Essential Cleansing Brush Review

I purchased the Philips VisaPure Essential Cleansing Brush about 6 months ago for about $150-$200 NZD on a whim, I had heard great reviews about electronic cleansing brushes for a long time now and had only mustered up the courage to use a manual one (I think it was about $6 NZD).
My husband, who has skin issues himself, thought this item would be great for us to try - he was right (did I just say that??)

The Philips VisaPure Essential Cleansing Brush comes with:
  • 1x Charging Stand
  • 1x Charging Cable
  • 1x VisaPure
  • 1x VisaPure Carry Case
  • 2x Cleansing Heads: Normal and Sensitive (Sensitive head has the pink bristles)

Philips VisaPure Essential Cleansing Brush claims to clean 10x better than regular cleansing with hands and has 2 settings - Gentle and Deep cleansing.
It is recommended to change the head every couple of months at a price of about $15 NZD which is not too much - It is only the initial purchase that is heart-stopping. This brush is waterproof, cordless and also has a 1 minute timer which skips every 20 seconds indicting to you to change the area you are using it to prevent over-use.

  • 20 seconds for your forehead and 20 seconds per half of remaining face

Verdict:
After using this product for over 6 months I have found my skin smoother and no signs of any fine lines yet. My pores are not as congested and I seem to use less cleanser when I use it.
I feel less embarrassed about my naked skin and any scarring that I have had in the past is diminishing.
The battery life is actually really amazing, I use it 3 times a week on Deep Cleansing and my husband uses it 7 days a week on Gentle and we only need to charge it once every 60ish days.
It would have been nice if this product included a stand that could be used in the shower as the current stand is also used to charge it

My only issue with this product is as first glance it looks like something other than a cleansing brush.......

Artdeco Eyeshadow Base Review

You have probably gathered from my previous posts that I have oily skin and with oily skin comes eye shadow that does not stay in place and gets all caught up in the creases of the eyelids. Have you got the same problem? Well, I think I found a solution.

Alright, so you've completed your skin care routine, you've applied what you have needed to and you're up to your shadow. These are my steps that have given me eye shadow that looked exactly how I applied it 12 hours prior.
  • Conceal under eyes, the small remainder on your sponge/brush/fingers can be used on eyelids
  • Powder to set
  • Apply a thin, even layer of Artdeco Eyeshadow Base with your fingers over eyelid and on lower lash line if desired (This product is a neutral colour, really creamy and you don't need too much)
  • Stipple on your base colour shadow with your preferred brush and continue on.

Pros:
Have not had 1 crease since use
It seems to have an illuminating effect
Free from animal ingredients
Can be used with any type of eye shadow

Cons:
Really strong scent, it reminds me of an aftershave. The scent did not last long once applied
This product is in a tub which isn't hygienic

Ingredients:
C11-13 Isoparaffin, Talc, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Mica, Pvp/Hexadecene Copolymer (Vp/Hexadecene Copolymer), Polyethylene, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol, Bisabolol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylene Glycol, Bht, Glyceryl Stearate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Citric Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Benzyl Benzoate, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Citral, Ci 77491 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77492 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77891 (Titanium)

Clinique 3-Step System #3 Combination/Oily Review

My first post, eeek! So excited to be starting a new journey and to be able to share some special gems I have wandered across with all of you

Let's start with my favorite skin care product.

Amazing. Worth the money. No more breakouts!
These words I have told friends and family regarding my obsession with the Clinique 3-Step system. I have never been so happy with a cleanser, toner and daily moisturizer.
love these products. I love how my sensitive and grossly oily skin does not react, I love how Clinique is 100% fragrance free AND allergy tested, I love how all 3 products have lasted me over 6 months with 2x daily use. I love love love Clinique!
  • The cleanser has a thicker foam, it does not dry my skin (a problem most cleansers designed for oily skin do) and leaves it feeling soft, not stripped of my natural oils. If you have make-up on I recommend using a remover first, this cleanser is not the best at completely removing it.
  • The toner, I tip 2 times on a cotton wipe and glide it over my face a few times, it does not sting at all and it picks up all the bits of grime and make-up left behind as well as exfoliating your skin. I do not feel deprived of a good scrub with this product~
  • The daily moisturizer, it is gel based which is a delight as it is light weight and absorbs quickly into my skin, not leaving a greasy film that I could claw off. This is the perfect start for any make up routine
I personally use the combination/oily type in this system and have noticed a huge change in my skin. It is no longer oily, my make up isn’t slipping off my forehead and my nose isn’t a greasy mess. My favorite part about these products is I barely ever have any break outs. My oily skin is no longer clogging my pores! YAY!
If you have not tried the Clinique 3-Step System then you, my friend, are missing out! I have repurchased the whole system again last week in the jumbo size and have 0% regrets
